GEO Hub: AI Search Visibility and Citation Tracking

Last updated 11 March 2026

What Is GEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation. It is the practice of optimising your website to appear in AI-powered search tools — including Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar platforms.

Traditional SEO focuses on ranking in the list of blue links on a Google results page. GEO focuses on something different: getting your website cited as a source when an AI tool answers a question related to your business.

As more people use AI tools to get answers rather than clicking through search results, GEO is becoming an important part of any digital marketing strategy.

How GEO Credits Work

Running a GEO analysis uses GEO credits. Your monthly credit allowance depends on your plan:

PlanMonthly GEO Credits
Basic25
Pro50
Pro+100
Agency200

Credits refresh at the start of each billing period. Unused credits do not carry over to the next month. If you need more credits before your renewal date, you can purchase GEO credit top-up packs.

Running a GEO Analysis

To run a GEO analysis:

  1. Go to GEO Hub from your dashboard
  2. Enter the topic or query you want to check (e.g. "best plumber in Bristol" or "affordable wedding photography London")
  3. Select the AI platforms you want to analyse
  4. Click Run Analysis

RnkRocket will query the selected AI tools and check whether your website is cited in their responses, then provide a detailed report.

Understanding Your GEO Visibility Score

Your GEO visibility score (0-100) measures how often your website appears as a cited source across the AI platforms you have analysed for your target topics.

  • High score (70+): You are being referenced regularly. Focus on maintaining this with fresh, high-quality content.
  • Mid score (40-69): You appear sometimes. There are concrete steps to increase your citation frequency.
  • Low score (0-39): You are rarely or never cited. The recommendations will outline the most impactful changes to make.

Citations and What They Mean

A citation occurs when an AI tool mentions your website or quotes content from it in a response. Citations are the GEO equivalent of a top search ranking — they put your business in front of someone actively seeking an answer you can provide.

The GEO analysis report shows:

  • Which AI platforms cited you and for which queries
  • Which pages of your site were cited
  • Which competitors are being cited instead of you
  • The specific topics where you have citation opportunities

Improving Your GEO Score

The GEO Hub provides tailored recommendations based on your analysis results. Common improvements include:

  • Structured, factual content: AI tools prefer content that directly answers specific questions
  • Clear entity information: Your business name, location, services, and expertise should be stated clearly and consistently across your site
  • Schema markup: Structured data helps AI tools understand who you are and what you offer
  • Authority signals: Being cited on reputable third-party websites (directories, press, associations) increases the likelihood of AI tools referencing you
  • Fresh, specific content: AI tools tend to prefer content that is regularly updated and goes into genuine depth on a topic

GEO vs Traditional SEO

GEO and traditional SEO are complementary, not competing. A strong traditional SEO foundation — good technical health, quality content, relevant keywords — also supports your GEO visibility. The GEO Hub adds a layer of analysis specifically focused on how AI tools perceive and use your content.
