Getting Started After Signup: Your First Ten Minutes
Last updated 11 March 2026
Your First Ten Minutes
After you create your account, RnkRocket takes you straight into a short onboarding wizard. This is the fastest way to get meaningful data into your dashboard. The whole process takes around five to ten minutes, and most of it happens automatically in the background while you complete the steps.
The Onboarding Wizard
Step 1: Enter Your Website URL
Type in your website address. RnkRocket will immediately start crawling your site in the background, fetching your pages, checking for technical issues, and running an initial SEO analysis. You do not need to wait for this to finish before moving on.
Step 2: Business Context
Tell RnkRocket a little about your business: what you do, where you are based, and who your customers are. This helps the AI give you more relevant keyword suggestions and content ideas that match your actual market rather than generic recommendations.
Step 3: Connect Google Search Console (Optional)
Connecting your Google Search Console account unlocks real search data: the exact queries people use to find your site, your click-through rates, and your average positions in Google. This makes the keyword and SEO features significantly more accurate.
This step is optional. If you skip it, RnkRocket will still work using estimated data, and you can connect GSC at any point from your account settings.
Step 4: Add Competitors
Enter the websites of up to three competitors (depending on your plan). RnkRocket will analyse them alongside your site so you can see where you are losing ground and where the opportunities are.
Step 5: Select Target Keywords
Choose the keywords you most want to rank for. These are added to your keyword tracking list immediately. You can add more keywords at any time from the Keywords section of your dashboard.
Step 6: Launch
Hit the launch button. RnkRocket queues all of the background jobs and takes you to your dashboard. The activation checklist will show you what is being processed and when each item is ready.
What Happens in the Background
Once you complete the wizard, several processes run automatically:
- Site crawl: Every page on your website is fetched and indexed
- SEO analysis: Your site is scored against more than 50 SEO signals
- Accessibility scan: Your site is checked for common accessibility issues
- Knowledge graph build: Your content topics and entities are mapped
- Competitor analysis: If you added competitors, their sites are analysed
These jobs can take anywhere from two to fifteen minutes depending on the size of your website. You do not need to stay on the page while they run.
The Activation Checklist
When you first arrive at your dashboard, you will see an activation checklist. Each item represents one of the background jobs described above. A green tick means the job is done. A spinning indicator means it is still in progress.
Once all items are ticked, your dashboard is fully populated with data.
What to Do First
Once onboarding is complete, here is a good order to start exploring:
- Check your SEO score on the Overview page and look at the active issues list
- Review your top keyword rankings and note which terms you are close to moving up for
- Look at the Competitor section to see where your competitors are outranking you
- Open the Content Studio to see suggested content ideas based on your keyword gaps
- Check the Autopilot page to see what the AI has flagged from its first run
You do not need to action everything immediately. Start with the two or three issues marked as high priority in the SEO Analysis and work from there.
